So while we were away in L.A., Matt and I made it over to the San Diego Zoo. This was an ingenious idea on our part. There were hundreds of animals...wait...thousands...and although the zoo was a bit difficult to navigate around, the animals we saw were incredible. I was also reunited with my old love, the flamingo. I don't think I really knew why I loved them so much when I was a kid, but I was a fanatic. It wasn't just that they were pink and pretty...there had to be something more...and sure enough, staring at the birds in the lagoon it became clear. They are the silliest, showiest, most absurd bird I've ever seen. It was incredible the things they would do and the positions they could contort themselves into. And they would make so much noise and make such a fuss if a bird came near them that they didn't like. I think it's easy to tell why of all the animals at the San Diego Zoo the Dr. Seuss foundation chose to donate to the Flamingo Lagoon. They look like they leaped out of one of his books. Anyway, I'm working on a few more sketches. Maybe I'll get them posted tonight. Maybe not. Oh, and please excuse the colour...I didn't make it web friendly apparently...

OHH! I like them!! I will have to get a print from you when you! (If that is cool of course...lol) It will go with my flamingo collection I started when we got married :)
Very very very cute.
I think you could turn this into a hit cartoon show.
Why thank you! I have to work on the legs though...they go backwards...I forget that.
WICKED! OMG - I need to commission you to do an animal of my choosing. LOL.
