My parents helped me salvage some massive window frames this weekend. They are brilliant and just the thing for the kind and queen of hearts. So I did a little sketch of what I want to do for the queen...here it is...now if I can only figure out how to get them back to Toronto...

I was going to do a whole bunch of them, but it was getting late and I couldn't get the composition to work, so here's two beautiful ballerina flamingos. They are still more graceful then I. lol

I call this one "Whatcha readin?"

Which, if you have a family like mine, can be a frequent and annoying question that we like to pass around to each other.

Again, the colour is slightly off...I'll have to figure out how to work on that...

So while we were away in L.A., Matt and I made it over to the San Diego Zoo. This was an ingenious idea on our part. There were hundreds of animals...wait...thousands...and although the zoo was a bit difficult to navigate around, the animals we saw were incredible. I was also reunited with my old love, the flamingo. I don't think I really knew why I loved them so much when I was a kid, but I was a fanatic. It wasn't just that they were pink and pretty...there had to be something more...and sure enough, staring at the birds in the lagoon it became clear. They are the silliest, showiest, most absurd bird I've ever seen. It was incredible the things they would do and the positions they could contort themselves into. And they would make so much noise and make such a fuss if a bird came near them that they didn't like. I think it's easy to tell why of all the animals at the San Diego Zoo the Dr. Seuss foundation chose to donate to the Flamingo Lagoon. They look like they leaped out of one of his books. Anyway, I'm working on a few more sketches. Maybe I'll get them posted tonight. Maybe not. Oh, and please excuse the colour...I didn't make it web friendly apparently...
